The Maltese Cardiac Society (MCS) is the national professional association representing cardiology and cardiovascular medicine in Malta. Established in September 2007, the Society brings together cardiologists and healthcare professionals with a shared commitment to advancing cardiovascular care, education, research, and innovation.
Since becoming a member of the European Society of Cardiology in 2008, the Society has continued to strengthen its role within both the local and international cardiology community. Through scientific collaboration, professional development, and educational initiatives, MCS supports the continuous advancement of cardiovascular medicine and promotes excellence in patient care.
The Society plays an active role in fostering high standards of clinical practice, supporting cardiovascular research, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge among healthcare professionals. It also works to increase public awareness of heart health and cardiovascular disease prevention through educational outreach and engagement initiatives.
In 2012, MCS fulfilled the requirements to be represented on the Maltese Specialist Accreditation Committee, reflecting its growing contribution to the development and governance of specialist cardiology practice in Malta. In May 2024, the Society was formally enrolled as a Voluntary Organisation with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations of Malta (VO/2503).
Today, the Maltese Cardiac Society continues to serve as a trusted voice for cardiovascular medicine in Malta, supporting healthcare professionals, promoting scientific excellence, and contributing to improved cardiovascular outcomes for the Maltese population.
